About OMTC

Oswestry Musical Theatre Company (OMTC) are an amateur group performing musical theatre shows, based in Oswestry.  The group performs two shows a year, usually in October and April half-terms (however occasionally performances are moved back to December for Panto season).

OMTC perform and rehearse at the Marches School, Morda Road, Oswestry (SY11 2AR).

Anyone interested in joining is welcome to visit rehearsals, which are usually held on Monday and Thursday evenings, 1930-2200.  Contact Mark Lord on 01691 662 138 for details.

OMTC’s History

OMTC’s roots date back to the 1920s and 30s when the Operatic Society flourished in Oswestry, performing at the King’s Theatre, new Street and the Victoria Rooms, Roft Street.

In the spring of 1962, a piece in the local paper (the Border Counties Advertiser) suggested that the society should be reformed, and in March 1963 the Oswestry and District Amateur Operatic Society was reborn, putting on their first show of HMS Pinafore in January of 1964.

Recently the name of the company was changed – to reflect the changing nature of the shows performed and to attempt to attract a larger audience, from the Operatic society to the Musical theatre society.
